WorldNet Oslo

The most powerful and flexible of APT's Codecs, the WorldNet Oslo is a modular, multiple channel audio multiplexer enabling the transport up to 24 mono or 12 stereo channels of high quality audio content on a single T1, E1 or IP link.

Advancement in Radio Technology AwardThe WorldNet Oslo Multiplexer is the industry's most robust professional, platform for high quality FM, HD Radio/DAB and Surround Sound audio contribution and distribution.Winner of Radio Magazine's Advancement in Radio Technology Award for Audio & Data Transmission, the WorldNet Oslo offers broadcasters and service providers a flexible, highly reliable and multi-featured audio multiplexing solution.

Designed to transport both compressed or uncompressed audio and data over various digital networks, the WorldNet Oslo is based around a 19 inch, 3U high standard rackmount chassis which is card-based expandable. Redundant power supplies, “hot-swappable” cards and automatic back-up functionality ensure 24/7/365 reliability for mission-critical applications such as studio to transmitter links.

Various network interface modules eliminate the need for external multiplexers or media converters. Audio can be transported via synchronous or packet-switched networks with support for T1 (1.5Mbit/s), E1 (2Mbit/s) and Ethernet (IP) interfaces. Both the T1 and E1 transport cards feature cross-connect functionality with extensive timeslot management enabling advanced network features such as drop and insert, drop and copy, and backup schemes, in addition to simple unprotected point-to-point links.

A maximum of 24 audio channels in simplex mode and a minimum of 2 audio channels in duplex mode are possible in each frame. Plug-in audio modules in over 12 different configurations offer analog, AES/EBU, simplex, duplex and 5.1 phase-locked options.

As well as uncompressed linear audio and J.57 companding, the WorldNet Oslo also supports 16 or 24-bit Enhanced apt-X® offering cascade-resilient, near-lossless audio quality with under 2ms delay.

All unit settings can be managed remotely using APT's highly acclaimed Codec Management System (CMS); a powerful graphical user interface that provides extensive configuration, control and fault monitoring capability of multiple WorldNet Oslos and other APT IP audio codecs. In-band Management enables control and monitoring of a network of units over E1/T1 without the need for additional dedicated comms link.
